Our Katrina Angel
Hurricane Katrina devastated the Mississippi
Gulf Coast on August 29, 2005. Our Lady of the Gulf parish and its
parishioners lost homes, buildings, businesses in the aftermath of the
hurricane.
The people of the United States and the world did not stand idly by but came in their thousands to help us all rebuild our hearts, homes and lives.
On August 29, 2010, our parishioners gathered to bless an "Angel of Light" statue to show their appreciation to the thousands of volunteers who came and continue to come; to let them know that their sacrifices, dedication, commitment and help will not be forgotten but will always be treasured and etched in the minds and hearts of the people they helped.
